Annemehr:
Always ready to oblige with quotes; it's handy keeping the books by
the computer! Actually, it's not quite the way you remember it:
"So -- straight into it. Curses. They come in many strengths and
forms. Now, according to the Ministry of Magic, I'm supposed to teach
you countercurses and leave it at that. Im not supposed to show you
what illegal Dark curses look like until you're in the sixth year.
..." [GoF ch. 14]
Also, I forget when, so I couldn't look it up (I tried, though!), but
Harry overhears Draco talking about how his father wanted him to
attend Durmstrang, where they actually learn Dark magic, not just the
defense stuff they learn at Hogwarts. I also don't think Crouch!Moody
means he'll be teaching Harry's class again in Harry's sixth year, but
that according to the MoM he's only supposed to show Dark curses to
sixth (and seventh) years.
Sorry about putting holes in your theory -- better luck next time, eh?
