Annemehr, quoting Crouch!Moody: ""So straight into it. Curses. They
come in many strengths and forms. Now, according to the Ministry of
Magic, I'm supposed to teach you countercurses and leave it at that.
Im not supposed to show you what illegal Dark curses look like until
you're in the sixth year."
Potioncat: "Another thread was hashing over whether DD approved or
knew that Unforgivables were being taught. It might make sense that
Illegal Dark curses would be demonstrated to NEWT students. These
students are possibly going to be aurors or healers and will need to
know about them. Aren't we told that that the restricted section of
the library had dark art material for the 6th and 7th year classes? So
"if" Crouch!Moody is telling the truth, NEWT students learn about dark
curses but does that include unforgivables?"
Even if the sixth and seventh years didn't get the Dark Arts material
before, they will now. One thing we can count on is this: DADA is
going into overdrive from here on. Since we don't have any canon
evidence, we can fall back onto our imaginations: "If this was my
problem, how would I solve it?"
Students would start getting double DADA training starting in fourth
year from now on. Lupin and Moody (who should be at Hogwarts anyway
now that they're not underground and they should be near Harry and
Dumbledore) would both be teaching DADA to help handle the load.
Lupin will teach the younger students and Real!Moody will teach the
older students the rough stuff. The DA will be a NEWT level practice
group coached by Harry. (Dumbledore will gently but firmly recommend
that the name revert to "Defense Association." The members won't
listen.)
