Hi All,

<finwitch>
Ok, so Sirius crossed the Veil. However, he didn't exactly die, even
though that Veil was between the World of the Living and the Dead.

He's dead.

Steve bboy_mn listed quotes from OotP in post 96449.

Then there's the tantalizing quotes from the web chat, including:

Cookie246122: Why did you kill Sirius? It made me very sad :(
JK Rowling replies -> I'm really, really sorry. I didn't want to do it,
but there was a reason. If you think you can forgive me, keep reading,
you'll find out. [I feel really guilty now].

However I do feel for everybody who feels cheated by the nature of his
death. Shortly after the release there was a great post which I cannot
now relocate. In it the author asks us to imagine that JKR had chosen a
different analogy for death. Imagine that the death chamber contained a
raised dais with a bucket on, and that strange whispers emanated from
the bucket. Then during the duelling Sirius accidentally kicks the
bucket. Would we all be satisfied that he was now dead? No.

Cheers,

Dumbledad.
