I really like this idea and think it could have some weight. The
problem is we have so little evidence to support it, but that never
stopped anyone before. ;-) Sirius and Snape do look alike, but then
again so does James, and Harry for that matter. Dark and brooding.
But a physical blood relationship could explain their antagonism
toward each other, which seems to go deeper than childhood rivalry.

Mandy again:
I do have to disagree with Potioncat though. I can see JKR having an
illicit affair in her Pottervierse very easily.

Illicit affaires occur in children's books all the time. And when
you compare some of the other bad behavior that has occurred in the
story, an affaire between two distant relations doesn't seem that
bad, does it? The affaire would only be talked about, not witnessed
by Harry and co. and Sirius and Snape's parents are sufficiently
removed from our hero for it not to influence them too greatly. The
Black and Snape families are Dark families and JKR has had the reader
witness, through our eyes reading the written word, some heinous
crimes of violence committed by the Dark Wizards in the story so far;
the murder of Cedric Diggory by Pettigrew, the physical torture of
Harry by LV, of Neville by Bellatrix, and of three muggles, including
a small child, by a pack of DE. The brutal, verbal racism by Draco
toward Hermione and by Lucius to just about every one he meets.
After that an extramarital affaire doesn't seem so bad.

Mandy, who is going to enjoy mulling on this theory for a while.
