Well, I have one that might keep both the vamp fans *and* the Sirius fans happy...well, maybe a little anyway. ^^

Yes, Sirius is dead. I go with the 'dead means dead' assumption...but what if he became *undead*? What if, Sirius managed to escape the Veil and what lies beyond...but the crossing had already killed him---so if he came back, he would be...*ta-dum* 'Undead'!

Yes, I am presenting this as a serious (no pun intended) idea.

Of course, what kind of 'undead' would he be?

A few guesses...

The obvious is that here is where the up-til-now-invisble-and-unknown Vamp makes his appearance...almost makes sense, in a weird sort of way. Sirius comes back, but he's breaking the rules of Life and Death, and he's in a dead body--but the body needs something to keep it going. So, it becomes the 'classical' vampire body--making Sirius needing to feed to keep it active, or he turns to dust. Fits all the traditional requirements, gives us back Sirius, and gives him something 'new' to deal with (and thus, perversly, maybe helps him do all that maturing he didn't get to do as a regular wizard after he escaped Azkaban. Trauma cna ruin a man, but it can remake him to into something better if he's strong enough...)

Or...Perhaps the Veil really is the source of the Dementors--Dementors being those souls that escape its grasp to come back into the world...almost like a Remnant spirit ALA the Crow and similar entities...of course, that doesn't explain the Hunger Dementors seem to have, but don't most spirits have some sort of 'food' they need to hunt while they're breaking the rules and wandering the land of the living...? Then again, Sirius as a soul-sucking, heartless, monstrocity is rather depressing....I think I like the vampire theory better...

It would
1) let Sirius return in the here and now
2) Finally give us a real life Vamp to talk about and sink our teeth into
3) Satasfy the "He's dead, Jim" conditions of 'Dead is Dead' set forth by Rowling through Dumbledore
4) If Rolwing oges by the modern theory that Vamps and Werewolves donlt get along, Remus and Sirius could possibly get a chance to work through that and blow the idea all to hell...;)
5) Hey, at least he would make a sexier looking Vamp than Severus (did I just say that??? O.O)

Any takers? Anybody? (hears crickets chirping as she waits).....
