get in the way of practicality. All of this does not mean that she 
will turn away but JKR has given us ample clues and I don't those
clues are without meaning

I don't think that Molly is going to do anything terrible. In fact, I 
think that she will probably die saving one of her children (probably 
Percy).  Anyway, my vote for someone who "thinks that they are doing 
something right but ends up doing something terrible" goes to: 
Lupin.  He is more of an enigma to me than Snape.  He knows or has 
done something that he hasn't shared with Dumbledore.
