I start with the usual, I haven't read every post, disclaimer; 'Sorry
if this has been covered before'.
Currently, there is an active thread about Phineas Nigellus that
stimulated this question.
We know Phineas has several portraits painted (well, two for sure),
the question is, how many 'portrait selves' exist for Phineas?
For example, a wizard has 5 portraits spread around the wizard world,
is the only one of him that divides his time between portraits, or are
there 5 of him, one for each portrait?
Does the same thing apply to photographs, because there are countless
thousands of Dumbledore Chocolate Frog Cards of him.
If there are many of 'him', do they all share universal knowledge of
each other, or do they live separate an independant lives?
Could two different portrait version of a person get into a heated
disagreement over something, or would they all share a universal
opinion on the matter?
How odd would it be for Phineas to meet himself as both versions
traveled through the portrait world on their way to the Hogwarts
portrait?
In the book, it reads as if there is only one Phineas, who divides his
time between Grimmauld Place and Hogwarts. But it could just as easily
be one copy of himself is off enjoying himself while the other travels
back and forth.
Just curious.
