Thanks for the tip re: *Bagman's* role, as well as Crouch, Sr. & 
Crouch!Moody, in the discussion of magical contracts.  It certainly 
does make a difference in whether one might believe DD planned this 
one or simply went along with it.  

Yes, I do think on occasion DD sets things up, but on other occasions 
he is merely aware & allows.  This may well be one of those cases.  
In my mind DD does this because he sees the opportunity for Harry to 
hone skills & gain confidence.  It's an interesting addition to say 
DD might have seen the benefit of keeping the action out in the 
open....  I *definitely* agree that he didn't forsee the portkey.
