So, these are clues that aren't in the book,
necessarily, but from the author herself.

Because quite frankly I written stories for my own amusement where I had a character that was evil or just plain annoying, but I liked the way their character turned out and thus liked the character. That doesn't mean that I liked their actions in the story, but they were characters that I liked because they were strong characters. I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, but I for one can like a character how they are written even if they are evil or bad and I'd say that many if not most writers have antagonistic characters they like.
