How Close Are Harry and Lupin?

When assessing a character's reaction to something, it's a good idea 
to look at how (s)he usually behaves. As Lupin never displays a 
great deal of emotion, it would be a bit OOC if he suddenly started 
to sob and wail. But from what I see in the book I don't think 
Lupin's calm at all. Even while he's struggling to break free, Harry 
notices Lupin's voice is breaking when he says Sirius can't come 
back. In the next scene, Lupin actually stammers: "Let's - let's 
find the others", and he sounds "as though every word was causing 
him pain". I'd say this is pretty emotional, for someone as composed 
as Lupin usually is. Plus that great shocks initially often have a 
somewhat numbing effect; the big emotions don't break through until 
the truth has really sunk in.
