Well, I don't think the first and second books could have
been categorized as anything else.

I remember my husband and daughter finally convincing me to
read the books, and the language in the first one definitely
seemed very simple and geared toward children to me.

The language complexity changes quite a bit in the later
books, but after the first couple shuffled into the
children's section, it's hard to change gears for the
publishing companies, I suppose.
