but perhaps not. JKR started out simply, remember, and writes
everything from Harry's perspective.

I wonder how much of that is because of Harry's growth and how much 
from JKR's growth as a writer? 

I have a couple of favorite authors who write series and recently I 
went back to read the first book in one of the series. I'm not sure 
if it was her first published book, or just an early effort, but the 
difference in style between that book and the most recent was 
striking, in the same way there is a big difference between PS/SS 
and OoP.
