Snape, Lupin, and the map

Carol:
I agree that Snape recognized the names from his school days, but I
don't think Lupin knows more about the Dark Arts than Snape, nor do I
think Snape really thought the parchment was filled with "Dark Magic"
as he said (mischievous magic, yes, but not Dark). That was just an
excuse or bluff to get Lupin into the office without revealing to
Harry that Snape knew exactly *who* had made the map, even though he
didn't yet know for sure *what* the map was. (I'll bet he had his
suspicions, though!)
