If Lily were holding baby Harry, wouldn't Voldemort have been able to
kill Harry without killing Lily first? Voldemort's request (or order)
for her to "Stand aside" suggests that she was blocking his way,
perhaps standing in the doorway of Harry's room with the baby behind
her in his crib. (That doesn't in any way invalidate your theory that
losing his mother caused little Harry to fear getting close to people,
but I don't have any views on that topic. I'm more interested in what
happened at Godric's Hollow.)
