Carol:

to kill Harry without killing Lily first? Voldemort's request (or
order)for her to "Stand aside" suggests that she was blocking his
way, perhaps standing in the doorway of Harry's room with the baby
behind her in his crib. (That doesn't in any way invalidate your
theory that losing his mother caused little Harry to fear getting
close to people, but I don't have any views on that topic. I'm more
interested in what happened at Godric's Hollow.)
Estela:
I don't think Lily was holding Harry when she died, because if she
had, Harry would have seen Voldemort killing her, and we know that
Cedric was the first person he saw die - if he had seen Lily dying,
he would have seen the thestrals since his first school year, just
like Luna, and he hasn't. I agree with Carol when she says that maybe
Voldemort asked her to stand away because she was blocking a doorway,
but I don't think it was Harry's doorway. Although I'm sure she, as
James, was pretty near him when she died, because the dementors make
him "remember" their last words, so he must have heard them...
