Oh, I agree McGonagall's 'needs replacing' comment is from the movie.
And further more, I agree that the Reparo spell has it's limitation
and was probably not the spell to use on a wand. But given all that
magic can do, I simple can't believe it's not possible to rejoin two
pieces of wood, especially when most of the Unicorn hair core seems to
be intact.

"Hey Ron, here's a clue, try some glue!"

I'm not saying the result would be a wand returned to it's original
level of function, but it certainly would have been better that a wad
of Spellotape.

Words of wisdon, 'you do not get what you do not ask for'. And I think
it is that very lesson the teachers are trying to teach Ron. He and
Harry already go off rushing head first into all kinds of dangerous
situations, I think the teachers would like to teach them and the rest
of the students, that asking for help is not such a terrible thing.

I can completely understand why Ron didn't ask for help with the Wand
or the Robes; afteral, he is a /boy/. But I am absolutely convinced,
if he had asked for help, he would have gotten some. If not McGonagall
or Flitwick, then certainly they could have safely and easily gone to
Dobby for help.

Of course, the ultimate reason for not asking is that JKR needs the
wand to be broken so it can backfire on Lockhart. Although, as
frustrated as I am at Ron for not asking, I think it was totally in
character for him not to ask; a typical thing for a boy that age to do.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
