Except that in OoP, Harry keeps questioning the least probable
person of all : Petunia. I don't have my books, so I can't give you
the reference, but it is said that after he is confined to his room,
he jumps on every occasion to question Aunt Petunia, every time she
comes to give him food.
On the other hand, even after Sirius has made it clear that he's
ready to answer all and any of Harry's questions, Harry still
doesn't ask him anything about his parents and grand-parents, or
anything else.
I agree with all those who say that Harry doesn't ask questions
because JKR doesn't want to give answers. First the very first book,
I knew she wasn't playing fair with us. Harry didn't have any
reaction to Hagrid giving him the photo album of his parents and
their friends. He's happy to get it, but he doesn't care about
learning more about them, let alone ask for any further information
about them. He's an orphan and he's not curious about his parents ?
Nope, sorry, I don't buy that. I was 11 too when I went crying to my
mom, pleading for her to tell me a bit more about my biological
father. If anyone had come over who'd been friend with him, I would
have questioned them to no end.
So when I read that Harry, a boy who spent 3 sleepless nights
staring at his family in the Mirror of Erised, didn't go to Hagrid
to get more info about his parents (or at least the address of those
friends Hagrid contacted to get the pictures), I knew JKR was going
to keep some things secret for no plausible reason. It's her right,
she's the author.
