Norbert the Norwegian Plot Development

So...I tried searching but the yahoo search over these enormous archives is next to 
worthless, so I hope this is not a suggestion/question akin to that infamous gleam-in-
the-eye, but...

Norbert: when he hatches, he sees Hagrid and, as the big guy says, "knows his mommy" 
(SS 235 USHB).  Do dragons, like many other animals, "imprint" their parent's face into 
their memory so that they can recognize them instantly from among a herd?  And if so, 
will Norbert make a return visit as a (nearly-)adult dragon, and recognize Hagrid as his 
mommy?  (HR&H were there too...are they equally parental or avuncular?)  The possibilities 
for a return by Norbert are intriguing...maybe the Death Eaters harness dragon power as 
an advanced weaponry?  They're big and deadly, which attracts Hagrid for sure, but the 
Dark Side probably wouldn't be too far behind.  Or, if events lead underneath Gringotts 
again (where, rumor has it, there be dragons) could one of our heroes position as 
Norbert's onetime caretaker prevent the proverbial toasting?  Where else might HRH (& 
Hagrid) go that they would encounter Norbert?  How big would Norbert be at five or six 
years old?  What other brilliant questions (or answers) do you all have about our absent 
scaly buddy?
