What makes you think that Sirius was the Secret Keeper at the time?

Jetamors:
You misunderstand me. I don't think Sirius was the Secret Keeper,
but I do think Peter might have told him where the Potters were, in
much the same way that Dumbledore told Harry about 12 Grimmauld
Place. I just threw him out as a person who could *possibly* access
the Potters post-Fidelius Charm and pre-betrayal.

killed

Jetamors:
That doesn't work out right. Peter is the Secret Keeper. You kill
Peter, the Potters are presumably lost forever. (A concept I hope to
someday work into a fanfic, btw.) If Voldemort knew where the
Potters were, he still would not be able to access them unless Peter
told him and/or broke the Fidelius Charm. If Lupin knew that Peter
was the Secret Keeper, then he would have to conclude that either
Peter betrayed the Potters, or Peter and Sirius both betrayed the
Potters. Even if Sirius knew where they were, he could not
communicate that information to the Dark Lord without Peter.

There's an idea, though: if Lupin did know that Peter was the Secret
Keeper, he may have thought that *both* Peter and Sirius betrayed the
Potters. That would explain an awful lot. And if that's what you
were going for, then I agree that it's an awesome theory.

Kneasy:
> Who said he ran away?
> Somebody called DD, Hagrid, etc. Or do you think Voldy did it?

Jetamors:
I never thought about it, to be honest. OTOH, there's no particular
reason to believe he was there. There could've been alarms on the
house that went off, or James or Lily could have sent up a quick
flare, or whatever caused the house to fall apart could have been the
signal, or James and Lily may have had charms put on their bodies
that would locate their corpses when they were dead.
