Why is it that you do not address the issue of Bellatrix Lestrange 
anywhere in your post about Neville supposedly becoming evil?  Why on 
earth would he ever turn to the dark side when he fought so hard 
against the Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries and has such 
powerful hatred for Bellatrix personally?  Besides, Neville isn't the 
cringing coward Pettigrew was; he's always had it in him to fight 
against the likes of Draco Malfoy even from the first book, and now 
he's standing proud alongside Harry with a broken nose and four of 
his comrades out of commission. 

Neville is the Peter Pettigrew that could have been if Pettigrew 
wasn't so enraptured with allying himself with those in power.  If 
Neville were that way, we would have seen him join up with Umbridge's 
Inquisitorial Squad.  Instead, we see him as Harry's star pupil in 
the DA.
