Good question, Bookworm.  And to add to it a bit, this a.m. my 
daughter, totally out of the blue, asked me how the basilisk got out 
of the pipes?  She meant it logistically, physically, or however you 
want to phrase that.  But it's a BIG creature.  Just how/where *did* 
it come out?  Has this been explained & I just missed it?
