NOT that this would refute the essence of your argument, Janet, but 
didn't Quirrell say that *he* was the one who tried to break into the 
Gringotts vault *for* Voldy?  IIRC, Voldy wasn't yet under the turban 
[the movie misleads in this way; not that you're thinking of the 
movie--just pointing that out].  I believe Q. said that **after** the 
failure at Gringotts Voldy decided he needed to keep a closer eye on 
him, the assumption being that Voldy THEN decided to attach himself 
to Q's head & reside under the turban.  So I guess in your theory it 
would have had to have been Q. who applied an Imperious curse on a 
goblin?
