dcgmck:

If one seeks canonical confirmation, doesn't it make more sense to
look at the previous five titles than within the texts themselves?

Thus far each title has been a reference to something or someone with
legendary roots such as an alchemical stone, a secret chamber, an
escapee from an inescapable prison (a la Monte Cristo and Alcatraz),
a magical goblet, and a group bearing the name of one of the most
legendary creatures of all: a phoenix. Granted, each legend proved
to have a contemporary manifestation, but in each case the facts
diverged from the legend in significant ways. That makes Magda's
hypothesis seem quite reasonable.
