Both the U.S. hardback and paperback first release editions include 
the word "never" on page 706.  This is, in fact, the volume that 
seems to have yielded the most errata to date.  JKR admits that her 
proofreading deadline was such that everyone was cross-eyed and sleep-
deprived; hence, the infamous priori incantatem reversal between 
hardback and paperback editions.

Still, Finwitch makes an interesting case for the earlier misprint, 
especially for those enthusiastic about the ESE!Fudge theory.
