I'd be interested in what type of punishment you would think  appropriate.  
Remember, Umbridge most likely would have expelled every  member of the DA if 
she had been able to prove they were having meetings.   Marietta didn't care 
what happened to any of the members including Cho who  was supposedly her 
friend. 
 
Marietta was not forced to attend the meetings.  She could have quit  after 
the meeting in Hogsmeade.  There was no punishment for leaving the  group.  
Somehow I feel that if Cho had been expelled, she would not have  been nearly as 
fast to defend Marietta nor would she have considered what  Hermione did as 
cruel.
