One point that I think is very significant is that approximately A
YEAR AND A HALF passed from the night of Trelawney's prophecy to the
night Voldemort attacked the Potters in Godric's Hollow.
There was enough time for Dumbledore to figure out which
parents/children were likely candidates and help them take
precautions. Do you think, perhaps, that might be WHY the Potters
were in hiding in the first place? Do you think the prophecy might
have something to do with WHY the Longbottoms were tortured and ended
up in Hospital?
I believe that it isn't unreasonable to think that Lily and Dumbledor
may well have made a just-in-case contingency plan, so he had some
idea what she had planned to protect Harry. I think they could also
have had an "alarm" to alert the Order of the Phoenix in the event of
an attack.
Did Dumbledore set the whole thing up? I doubt it. He wouldn't have
been aware of the prophecy until it happened; but I do believe he
tried to help both the Potters and the Longbottoms protect their
children.
