Hi, Josh
I think you can read the books in any order you like. It is totally
up to you. Each of the books (except the fifth book) starts out with
a summary of the important events from earlier books, so you won't be
totally lost.
On the other hand, if you read the third and fourth books right away
without reading the first two books, you will probably miss out on
the big plot twist in the fourth book because the movies don't focus
on the foundations of those plot twists. I won't tell you what it
is, since you haven't read the books yet.
Have you thought about maybe listening to the books on tape? I have
all of the books on tape, and that might be a nice short cut if you
don't want to read them. Or you could just read the Lexicon (I think
there is a link on this group's home page). The Lexicon is great.
