Could they be talking about another boy here? Maybe Rowling's 
original word was "murder," but changed it to "curse" so as not to 
give something away. Could one of the children at school have been 
murdered, or made to disappear--and then replacd by the faithful 
servant? It seems as though they are talking about this boy all the 
way through and that once this boy is removed the path to Harry 
Potter becomes more clear. Whoever Voldie and Wormtail are talking 
about it seems as though Voldie would have enjoyed doing the act 
himself.
