Elf names

The discussion about freeing house-elves has prompted me to ask a 
question that has been bothering me since first reading CoS. JKR is 
usually so good with names, sharing with Dickens a knack of giving 
just the right name to the right character.  Is there any reason why 
she has given such baby names to the house-elves?  They sound like 
something out of Enid Blyton.  Is it to distinguish them from JRRT's 
elves, with their noble, echoing names?  Or is she disguising the 
fact that house-elves are extremely powerful creatures by giving them 
child-like names?  Any ideas?
