In my church work, I deal a lot with young people between 11 and 16. 
You might be surprised at the depth of interest and understanding 
that is shown by many of them in the plot lines. Some of them would 
be worthy members of this group. 

Young people (sorry, many of them don't like being called kids) 
nowadays are very perceptive. For example, I've had a far more in-
depth discussion with a couple of 13 year old boys at our youth group 
over LOTR than with a lot of adults.
