You brought up some interesting ideas and they could be used in a
church discussion group. Lots of churches in the U.S. are adapting
the Harry Potter story for that use. The real danger is going too
far with the comparisons.
On the other hand, I'm sure we could compare this group to King
Arthur and the Round Table as well. (I keep thinking that I first
saw Richard Harris as King Arthur and last as "Merlin")
Does all this count as OT?
