Finally someone who seems to agree with me.  I'm more anti R/H than pro 
anything.  Surprisingly, way back in Chamber of Secrets I thought Rowlings was 
headed for Harry with Ginny and Ron with Hermione, and based on what we knew about 
the characters back then, I could have accepted that. 

Actually I could probably still accept Harry with Ginny, even Luna or an 
unknown.  My problem is Ron.  Rowling has overdone the fighting for me to accept 
Ron and Hermione as a couple and she has pictured them as incompatible total 
opposites. It amazes me that they are even friends.

Please don't point to a list of situations where Ron and Hermione seem to be 
showing feelings toward each other because I've heard them all.  I've seen an 
equal list from H/H shippers.  In my opinion you are all seeing what you want 
to see.  I'm not even sure that Ron in GoF is showing a caring for Hermione as 
much as he is a brotherly attitude like he did with Ginny and not wanting her 
with Krum.  Remember, we saw that from Harry's view point.  Not once did Ron 
actually say that he liked Hermione.  Harry assumed.

I think at this point Rowling could take relationships anywhere she wants and 
either side could then go back and point to passages that they think showed 
the future.  These are three close friends and we can't read love into every 
line and action.  Some things are done just for frienship.  Ex.  Hermione giving 
Ron a kiss in POA and giving Harry kiss in GoF.  Shipping fans see one as 
love and one as friendship based purely on what you want to see.  I see them both 
as friendship.

That brings me to why I am so anti R/H.  Ron whether on purpose or not, 
inflicts too much hurt.  Even in arguments people must weigh their words.  Sticks 
and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me is a lot of tripe.  
Words can cut deep, especially when spoken by someone you think of as a 
special friend.

Make a list of the good and bad qualities of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, 
Ginny, Draco, Neville and any others that you can think of and then compare them.  
The only person worse for Hermione than Ron is Draco.  

Throw the sticks if you wish, but I'd rather see Hermione with Krum rather 
than Ron.  He may not be able to pronounce her name, but he certainly kne how to 
treat her properly.
