> I like the idea of "Uncle Voldie", Tom Riddle Snr as Lily and
Petunia's father. I can picture Harry and Petunia having a blazing
argument culminating in an Eastender's-esque "He's my brother!!!".
This might also go some way towards redeeming the Dursley's. So far
Voldemort has killed Petunia's father (maybe) and sister so no wonder
they're all a bit cagey, they may feel as though they are next in
line. I mean look how they reacted to Dudley's dementor attack.

> Yes my theory is more cliched than an episode of Dawson's Creek. I
believe that Voldemort's evil is rooted firmly in bitterness at his
upbringing in an orphanage as compared to the happiness shared by his
father's "other" family. The hesitation in killing Lily was because
she is his half-sister.
I don't think this conjecture can be effectively supported, primarily
because Tom Riddle is approximately forty years older than Lily and
Tom murdered his father when he (Tom) was seventeen. There's no time
available for Tom Sr. to have a second family. There's also the fact
that Lily's maiden name is Evans, not Riddle, and the not so minor
detail the Voldemort hated his father, whose favored offspring, if
any, Tom/LV would be bound to hate.
