We are told that Fawkes has given just two feathers.
Not told where or when mind, that would be telling us too much.

Olivander ends up with both.
He incorporates them into two wands.
Voldy has one, Harry gets the other.
Sheer chance of course.
And if you believe that, you'll believe anything.

It stretches credulity just that little bit too far to accept that it's
all a coincidence.

It's maybe significant that Ollivander tells Harry that the counterpart
of his wand was bought by He Who Must Not Be Named; not Tom Riddle -
Voldemort. Other posters have wondered about that, generally to puzzle
out how Ollivander knows that Tom Riddle became Voldy. So far as I
know no-one has considered the possibility that *the* wand might not
have been the first wand that he's owned. Pity that there's no evidence
one way or the other, it might make the puzzle a little easier.

Even if they were forged years apart, it still doesn't feel
comfortable. The fact that this 'coincidence' develops into a very
convenient plot device three books later is no reason to accept it at
face value.

The odds of the coincidence that we are presented with in PS/SS are
enormous, almost incalculable, even given that Harry has been at the
receiving end of one of the wands before. To think that Voldys attack
would influence Harry's choice ten years later is to argue that wands
can impart 'personality' to persons other than their users. I suppose
that some may say that it's the Voldy part of Harry that is influenced.
To do so is to presume that Harry is more Voldy than Harry - now
there's a pleasant thought!

Yeah, I know, Kneasy is on the conspiracy trail again. What's new? But
if the wands were made about the same time, from feathers given to
Ollivander at the same time, then we would be justified in getting
sniffy about Dumbledore - again. And if they were handed over years
apart, what did DD know or suspect? Did he know what wand Voldy was
using and ask Ollivander to prepare one for Voldys!Bane with the same
magical core? Just in case?

Time and again it seems that DD knows too much, that he's able to
anticipate events, take corrective measures.
Is this another example?

Kneasy
