Kneasy posted to the group with a conspiratorial grin:

We are told that Fawkes has given just two feathers.
Not told where or when mind, that would be telling us too much.

Olivander ends up with both.
He incorporates them into two wands.
Voldy has one, Harry gets the other.
Sheer chance of course.
And if you believe that, you'll believe anything.
<snip>
But if the wands were made about the same time, from feathers given
to
Ollivander at the same time, then we would be justified in getting
sniffy about Dumbledore - again. And if they were handed over years
apart, what did DD know or suspect? Did he know what wand Voldy was
using and ask Ollivander to prepare one for Voldys!Bane with the same
magical core? Just in case?

Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Oh, dead giveaway! Did you hear that?
That's what I've been on about!

Seriously though in message 93421, I wondered about this very
question. But I'm not sure we even know enough to know _how_ big a
coincidence it is. (See also my followup essage 93469) How many
phoenixes are there? Who decides they should "give" a feather? How
long has Dumbledore been Fawkes' human? Maybe Fawkes gave one feather
to Godric Gryffindor and the other to Salazar Slytherin. Ollivander's
has been in business since 382 BC, after all.

Speculation is definitely warranted...maybe even conspiracy theories.
