His movements have been (and are very often during holidays) dictated
by the Dursleys; during term time, I don't feel that the Hogwarts
staff would want him galloping off into the outback to look at the
remains of his parents' house.

You may say, well what about when he was at the Burrow? well, he was
busy enjoying his time with the family there and the thought may not
have crossed his mind; there again, what would Molly's reaction be to
Harry wanting to go off on a search like this? On his visits to the
Burrow, there are usually factors limiting his movements away from
the others - certainly Sirius Black (apparently after him) in POA and
the post-World Cup problems in GOF.

I just do not think that the opportunity has arisen for him to make
this "pilgrimage".<<

Maybe. He was 11 when he was told the truth, or part of it anyway.
He's now 16 and not once has he asked questions or expressed any
desire to know more about the GH incident since the first
revelations, though he obviously feels strongly about it, as evidenced
by his initial reaction to Sirius in the Shrieking Shack. IMO this is
partly because everyone else seems to treat it as a taboo subject, but
he must have loads of questions and no-one to ask.

No, the Dursleys wouldn't take him there, Molly might, depends how
he broached the subject. But I was thinking of all those Christmas
holidays spent moping around the school as a suitable time. I bet
Hagrid would take him with a bit of persuasion.

Carol:
Since Harry could hardly stand to look at the Wizard photograph of
doomed Order members that Mad Eye showed him at Grimmauld Place in
OoP, I don't think he *wants* to see Godric's Hollow or what remains
of it. The thought of his parents' murder is just too painful, at
least from what we've seen so far. Maybe he'll change his mind in
later books, or DD will think it essential for him to see the place
for some reason, but I can't think how it could be helpful.

Just my opinion.
