I've been wondering if the twins really hate the position of prefect
so much, or if that is there defensive mechanism--or whatever you
want to call it--for not being selected...since everyone else in the
family was.
I mean...even Harry, who we know deep down would have liked to have
been selected, starts to go along with their jokes when Ron gets the
badge. But he stops when he realizes that he's Ron's best friend and
does not want to put down something Ron is chosen for over him.
My point is, I don't think the twins would've been all that upset if
they received the badge--shocked, definitely! But not disgusted or
upset. It's always nice to know someone believes in your abilities
and thinks you can be a leader in a positive way.
And I also wonder if the position wasn't given to a twin because the
selectors didn't want to have to pick one twin and leave the other
behind. I mean....some twins are very very different and this
distinction wouldn't matter. But Fred and George are practically
portrayed as one entity in the books, BUT they are 2 different
bodies. And with the prefect title, tradition is tradition, if you
start picking 2 males now, how can you not pick 2 females, and so
on, and then what would happen when triplets come to Hogwarts?
But I could see Ginny as prefect. She seems to have leadership
qualities, and good relations with students from other houses. Ginny
seems strong enough of a person to exercise some control as well,
and be taken seriously for it. (Hermione's personality of being
little miss know-it-all makes people not so apt to listen to her,
whereas Ginny has a different way about her. I can't think of the
adjective I want to use now...not that it makes her a better person
than Hermione, but you know what I mean. And I know that by giving
Ginny the badge this doesn't mean Hermione loses it! I'm not using
that comparison for that reason. Just to show that Ginny could be
good for the job out of her grade!)
Just a few of the thoughts that ran through my mind :)
