Because "Love is blind"?
One might argue, that Ron have a crush on Hermione just because she is
nearby and they share common past and spent a lot of time together but
this is non satisfactory as the same things can be said about Harry, and
he does not have a crush on her.
The point is, regardless of how much we would like it to be otherwise,
love (and human emotions), can not be understood by sheer logic.
Besides, Ron can just be attracted to a girl with which one might have a
sensible conversation, not just some superficial beauty. Or maybe he
just like the brights in Hermione's eyes when they are bickering.
It is enough difficult to say why ourselves are loving our Significant
Others. Answering why someone else have a crush on someone is near to
impossibility.
