In JKR's defense, she has a LOT going on in her life.  She's a mother
of a preteen (I believe, maybe a teenager?) and a toddler (little
David just turned 1 year old yesterday), and a husband, all of whom
whom she probably likes to spend most of her time with.  Add to that
the fact that she has a lot of publicity stuff to do with the books
and movies (I imagine she had a ton of that to do shortly before and
after the release of OotP, as well), and she's probably helping to
write the scripts for the movie version of GoF and has just finished
giving input into the movie version of PoA.  In short, she's quite a
busy person.  

I have a feeling that, with JKR, family is a priority over her job.  I
also have a feeling that she's a bit of a perfectionist, so she is
probably working long and hard on the first draft.  (And if book 6 is
as long or longer than GoF or OotP, I don't wonder that it's taking a
while!)

Just thought I'd comment - though I'm as impatient as you are for book
#6!  :)  Knowing we have the movie of PoA to look forward to in a few
months is the only thing that helps curb my longing...
