I agree with everything you've said vmonte, except the last
paragraph. What canon evidence is there that Hermione 'sees'
something in Ron that she doesn't see in Harry? That's
interpretation of canon not canon itself (though it often gets
passed off as such). My personal opinion is that Hermione's feelings
have been kept purposely ambiguous. I'm also wondering if someone
could enlighten me as to what our policy is on the use of the HP
movies in our analysis of canon (because I also have reservations of
movie evidence being used to predict ships). And I'm not sure who
said that Ron wasn't motivated by jealousy, but I would point out
that 'jealousy' was a motivating factor in Ron's sudden
demonstration of his affections - jealousy of Krum.

At the risk of offending people (because I LOVE Ron, I truly do), it
seems to me that this all depends very much on what Ron wants. Ron
wants Hermione, therefore he will be with Hermione; Ron wants Ginny
to go out with Harry (is trying to push Ginny towards Harry)
therefore Harry and Ginny will ultimately date. We have seen in the
books that what Ron wants isn't necessarily what Ron gets and when
Ron gets it (prefect badge; Quidditch champion) it is undermined by
the things that go on around him - i.e. We have it confirmed from
Dumbledore that the prefect badge was ultimately meant for Harry;
When Ron has his big Quidditch moment, Harry and Hermione miss it
completely because they have more important things to take care of.
I do not think that Hermione's feelings are so clear cut that what
Ron wants (OBHWF), Ron will get.
Again - I don't want to offend, but it seems to me that the canon
evidence for any ship (including H/Hr) is not so strong that its
future is a given.
