I agree! Lupin is the perfect teacher because he is realistic about 
his charges.  In OoTP, he realises that some Extendable Ears would 
have survived and advises that Harry be told the truth from them 
rather than 'hearing' about it in other ways.  This shows a gentle 
wisdom which I very much like.  It's also possibly from his own days 
as a marauder that he realises that kids will be kids.
