I'd have thought on the contrary, the Bike is helpful if Sirius takes
Harry as Sirius then has to carry a child (there's no absolute
evidence that one can't apparate carrying a child, but the fact that
James shouts to Lily "Take Harry and run" would suggest to me that
one can't), which transport would make easier. Once Sirius realises
that Hagrid is taking HArry, he has lost everything; the Potters,
James and Lily, Peter, probably even Lupin; he's got nothing left to
do but go after Peter. The bike will help get Harry to safety, but
Sirius is past caring about himself.
Poor man.
