Silverthorne writes:

My problem comes from people who bash Snape and yet cannot see those
very same traits in Sirius or other chracters in the books. To me,
it's a hypocritical treatment. Both men have had hard, abusive,
unhappy lives that very likely screwed them both in the head.

vmonte responds:

I agree with what you said about Sirius. I think that Sirius was a
danger to Harry and the Order. This does not mean that I wanted
Sirius to die. In fact, I think that DD tried to keep Sirius from
getting killed (several times), but failed because it was Sirius's
destiny to die.

Siruis was not a man that could easily be reasoned with. He was a
hot tempered guy who often reacted rashly!

Sirius, like movie idol James Dean, lived hard and died young!

Sirius's difficult life made him who he was. (I for one would not
have been able to live with the kind of mother he had!)

Sirius was going to get killed no matter what, because Sirius was the
only person who could be in charge of his own destiny.

Sirius was very immature, although cool at the same time. He never
grew up -- life emotionally stunted him.

I have a lot to say about Snape but I will have to post this later.
