I have no doubt whatsoever that Snape killed. I suspect that it's one of the
tests for a potential DE: go and bring me the heads of 3 Muggles, (or
something like that). But I don't think he took any pleasure in the
experience. It's worth speculating that the reason Regulus Black was killed
was that he couldn't bring himself to do the killing thing.

Here's another interesting speculation (which harks back to another recent
thread): I wonder if Snape was admitted to the DE inner circle, despite his
youth, because Voldemort wanted a potion that would make the effects of the
Imperius charm permanent...

I suppose that makes me yet another voter for the "DE Potionmaster" slant
