Except for one incident, which has been discussed ad-nauseum here,
there really is very little to be said at all about
Snape's "treatment" of Hermione. He doesn't appear to partucularly
like *any* students and that includes "his slytherins". Hermione is
a teacher's nightmare. She IS a know it all and a bossy, aggressive
one. Students like that cow other students who fall into a "oh she's
going to answer anyway, why bother," line of thinking when her type
is in the room. There are only so many times a teacher can say "Why
don't we give someone else a chance," or "I'm sure you've done the
reading, Miss Granger, shall we let someone else show us that they
have as well?" before even the sweetest, calmest "Miss Honey" type
blows a gasket.
Snape's gaskets are leaking already.

Most of Snape's comments aren't *to* Hermione, they're to others--
Harry or Neville--or even Lupin. They are belittling to those
students, saying they need her help to do anything properly. Sure
it's snide but it's also, in a very Snapish way, saying "I know who
the brains are here. I know where you'd be if you didn't have her
doing it all FOR you."
And he's right.
How many essays has she re-written in the common room?

It's also interesting to note that aside from Dumbledore (and his
defense is dodgy at best) Hermione is Snape's greatest defender.
She's not walking around moaning about being treated unfairly. If
anyone was going to bring up the unfairness of a teacher, it would
be our Miss Hermione SPEW Granger. As far as we know, she never
mentioned the unmentionable *cough-teeth-cough* incident either. No
sign of lasting mental anguish there.

It's a given. Snape is NOT a nice person. JKR herself has said he
abuses his authority. There's plenty to lay on him, why look for
stuff that's *not* really there to add to it?
