I so liked SSS's answer (snipped a little here) that I didn't pick 
up on this.  Steffy, you have a good point.  I doubt any of the 
staff knew that Snape was a DE.  (or not until he showed Fudge 
anyway.) If (excuse me, when) he favored Slytherins, it could just 
be considered part of his nasty nature.  

I do wonder what the staff thinks about having so many DE's children 
at the school.
