Bonny writes now:
Which edition of the book are you reading, Carol? Because I am
referencing from the canadian printing, raincoast publishing, and in
my book the above quote is written as such:
"Ten points from Hufflepuff, Fawcett!' Snape snarled, as a girl ran
past him. 'And ten points from Ravenclaw, too, Stebbins!' as a boy
went rushing after her."
That is on page 371. I am assuming there must be an error in one or
the other of our copies.

Bonny now:
I agree, too bad Harry isn't! I am very curious about her (or them,
depending on which copy is correct). I think you are right about her
not being in Harry's year as well, based on her not being mentioned
at the sorting.
One thing I find interesting is that Miss Fawcett the Ravenclaw will
certainly know Luna Lovegood, and vice versa, being in the same
house. Perhaps that is how she will be introduced to book 6, perhaps
over the summer... Maybe Luna will bring her to the Burrow? She
(Luna) has obviously struck up a friendship with
Ginny/Ron/Hermione/Harry/Neville after the events at the ministry of
magic, and, being so near, I would be suprised they were not somehow
united during the summer holidays, either in this book or the next.
As for Miss Fawcett being the one to change houses, I suppose it is
possible, but I almost think it would more likley be Luna. Sure, she
is the obvious candidate, but really, all of her friends that we know
of are in Gryffindor. She has also proven herself to be very brave,
not so particularly Ravenclaw-esqe, and ostracized by her peers
because of her "oddities" which are more likley to be overlooked in
Gryffindor. ALso, Miss Fawcett, if we are indeed correct on guessing
her year, is unlikely to wait until 7th year to switch houses. And
then of course there is the possibility that it might be someone we
havn't thought of that switches.
Oh, and just one more thought on the Ottery thing - the Otter is
Hermione's patronus, the thing that protects her; what if she, being
a muggle-born and also top of the school, enemy to Draco, and close
to Harry, is singled out for attack? If she is at the Burrow all
summer, perhaps that is what will draw the attack upon the wizarding
families of the village - the wizarding families of the Otter valley
will protect her, just like her patronus. Too far-fetched????
