Geoff:
The fact that Ollivander's have been makers of fine wands since 382 
BC does not mean that the shop has been /based/ in the UK since then. 
Bearing in mind that at that time in history, the Mediterranean was 
more the centre of culture and civilisation, I suspect they were down 
thataway.
