Oh, yes. That is entirely plausible, logical and understandable 
scenario. But if it is true, then I don't buy Great actor! Snape, etc.

He is still stuck in the past. He hates Lupin. He hates James and by 
extension - his son, he can not get rid of his hatred.

I wonder whether he finally get rid of his hatred of Lupin, when he 
forced him to resign? Would he do it if Lupin dies also?
