We don't actually know if Marvolo is his paternal or maternal 
grandfather, and hence if he was Marvolo Riddle or Marvolo 
Something-Else. Given the un-muggleness of the name, I incline to the 
latter. I think Marvolo was the link to the blood-line of Slytherin.
